Why Choose Us?
Our 30 years of Experience
St. Matthew’s Preschool has served Snellville, and the surrounding community for over 30 years. We have expanded our program to meet the needs of the community we serve. Our Programs include: Toddlers, Twos, Threes, Fours, and Kindergarten.
Our Teachers
Every one of our teachers is a mom, so the loving care of your child is in the hands of a parent like you. Almost all our staff members are parents of St. Matthew’s “graduates” or have a child currently enrolled here. We have a vested interest in making sure the teaching at St. Matthew’s is top-notch. In addition to having “hands-on” parenting experience, our teachers also complete 10 hours of continuing education training per school year, to stay up-to-date on the newest ideas and trends. We want your child to stay healthy and safe at St. Matthew’s, so every staff member is CPR and First Aid certified.
Our Enrichment Programs
St. Matthew’s Preschool and Kindergarten offers opportunities for students to attend programs during the regular operating hours, and to enroll in additional programs before or after school.

Music
The Music curriculum is an integral part of our preschool program. The children go to music once a week for 30-45 minutes. They are introduced to a new instrument each week. They receive a coloring page showing that instrument so they can show you what they have learned. The instrument usually pertains to the “Letter of the Week.” The children are encouraged to sing, dance, clap their hands, stomp their feet, and get their whole body moving. We also use props like maracas, ribbons, spoons, wooden sticks, beanie babies, hula hoops and castanets.
The children learn fun songs they can sing to you for holiday performances and special engagements with Mom and Dad. The look on their faces when they can perform their music for you says it all: they absolutely love music!

Science
The Science curriculum introduces the children to the world of exploration through hands on experiences. The children experience Science once a week for 30-45 minutes. The children learn all about the world around them: how plants grow, what cells look like; how things work and the very basics of experimentation like cause and effect. They are encouraged to ask questions and give a hypothesis. Each science lesson pertains to the “Letter of the Week.” All of the children enjoy the wonder of science and discovering new things in a hands-on way!

Spanish
St. Matthews’s Preschool is proud to offer Spanish as part of our curriculum to our 4 year old and Kindergarten classes. Children will learn basic language with this hands on class. Spanish is taught through complete context sentence communication, movement with words, and songs with actions. The children are taught counting, colors, body parts songs as well as some others to help them learn the language in a fun and engaging manner.

Technology
St. Matthew’s offers the unique opportunity for your three-year-olds, four-year-olds, and kindergartners to learn about and use technology. The children have the use of hand held tablets for 20 minutes once a week. All of our applications are age appropriate and learning-centered. Using our interactive applications, your child learns about colors, shapes, numbers, letters, opposites, matching and following directions. Learning to use the tablet is another opportunity to strengthen hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills

Library
The Library is attended once a week for three and four-year-olds. Your child may pick out a book and take it home for a week. The children really enjoy going to the bookshelves and picking out their own books. We acquire many of our library books with points earned through Scholastic book orders. When our parents order books for their children, we receive free ones for our library. We also gladly accept donations!

Ballet
Pre-Ballet class is offered after school to 3, 4, and 5 year olds. This is a completely separate program from St. Matthew’s Preschool. An instructor comes on site and teaches early development of technical ballet and movement. In the spring the children perform a recital from all the techniques they have learned. For more information call Creative Movement and Dance at 678-482-2264.

Karate
St. Matthews’s Preschool offers Karate in addition to our program. Karate is taught by Charles Minter Tae Kwon Do Karate. Students will learn basic martial arts skills. Karate is offered to our 3, 4 and 5 year-olds and meets once a week. For more information please visit Charles Minter’s website at www.minterkarate.com.
